Jorgene Marie Jensen
Resident of La Jolla, CA
May 8, 1943, to April 4, 2025
Jorgene Marie Jensen, a warm-hearted and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many, passed away peacefully after an 18-month struggle with metastatic breast cancer. Jorgene was born in Millerville, Minnesota, not far from Fargo, and spent her youth working on the family’s 150-acre farm along with her parents and three sisters. It was during this time that she developed her enduring love of nature and all living things therein. She also began a profound faith that she maintained and shared throughout her life. She was a standout student at Brandon High School, where she was a member of the rally squad, played clarinet in the band, and was Homecoming Queen. As an early reflection of her view of life, her senior yearbook motto was “What’s the use of living if you can’t have fun!” She later expressed this by developing her passion for fashion at the University of Minnesota while raising her two children. Leaving Minnesota behind, she moved to the San Diego area to follow her love of sunshine, palm trees, and the ocean. With her keen eye for style, she established a successful business importing antique kimono and accessories, and creating high-fashion hats, gowns, and accessories. Examples of her work were displayed at Saks Fifth Avenue and other La Jolla and San Diego stores. She met and later married her husband of 42 years, Dan, following a chance meeting at a local church. Together they grew their interest in gardening, cruising, and especially dancing with many friends in dance clubs for over 20 years. She was always a welcome member with her ever-present laughter, optimism, and hugs sought by both men and women. She was a long-term member of Club Altura in La Jolla, another organization with which she shared her love of life. Jorgene and Dan were also members of the San Diego Jaguar Car Club and shared countless drives and events with fellow club members over 25 years. Regardless of whom she was with, Jorgene was always willing to share her warmth and prayers with others. Jorgene is survived by her husband, son Bill Allen, daughter Susanna Dederding, sisters Betty Klimek and Bonnie Danelke, and granddaughter Grace Brown. Donations in her memory may be made to San Diego Mission Trails Regional Park or a charity of choice.
