JOSEPHINE “JOJO” MCKEE STUDER, our beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at home in Perris, California on Sunday July 31, 2022 at the age of 57. Josephine was born in Subic Bay, Philippines on June 18, 1965. She was raised in San Diego, California, graduated from Mira Mesa High School in 1983, and afterwards, attended classes at UCLA. She also resided in Washington and Florida, but eventually returned home to California. She was a talented graphic artist and photographer. She enjoyed music, cooking, billiards, and traveling, but JoJo’s greatest passion was taking on the role of community organizer. In 2013, when Super Typhoon Yolanda hit her mother’s hometown of Hernani, Samar, Philippines, she moved swiftly into action fundraising to provide assistance to the victims and people whom she had come to know and love from the time she previously spent there. JoJo was very proactive in her community in Perris. The Covid Pandemic brought much fear and uncertainty; JoJo worked diligently to help organize a food pantry and deliver food to anyone in need. She initiated a Neighborhood Watch program that grew a strong and safer community. JoJo always had a sparkle in her eyes, a quick wit and great sense of humor. She was a fierce ally if she felt there was an injustice to be righted. She had big dreams and many plans. She is gone too soon and will be dearly missed.
Josephine is survived by her parents James Robert and Josefina “Penny” McKee, her sister Maria Beatrice and her husband George Malkasian, her brother James Robert “Bobby” McKee jr and his wife Ilse, two nieces Ysabel Malkasian and Layla McKee, and four nephews Mitchell Holbert, Joseph Malkasian, Lennon McKee and Leon McKee. She is preceded in death by her brother Joseph in 1966.
