

Josie is survived by her husband Robert Guatno, her children Jay and Hazel, step-children Alyson and Brandon, grandchildren Hadrian and Xavier.
She was the oldest of her siblings Evelyn and Ted.
She is preceded in death by her parents Don and Corazon Quizon, and her younger brother, Jun Quizon.
Josie served honorably in the United States Air Force Reserves as a military nurse for 27 years, retiring as a Captain. She served in combat in the Dessert Storm and Iraqi Freedom wars. She will be honored with full military funeral service, and will be buried at the Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, CA.
In her civilian career, Josie was a Nurse Practitioner at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in La Jolla, CA, specializing in Neurosurgery. Josie taught a Master's degree program at Azusa Pacific University
in Mission Valley, CA. Josie earned her Associate's Degree in Nursing at Solano College, Master's degree in Nursing at University of Somona State and a PhD in Education at the University of San Francisco, CA.
Josie was a parishioner at Resurrection Catholic Church in Escondido, CA. Josie participated in walk-a-thons of the Susan B. Komen (an organization of Breast Cancer Awareness) in San Diego CA. Josie volunteered at the San Diego Safari Wildlife Park in Escondido, CA by feeding the animals and contributed monthly donations.
Josie will be dearly missed by her family and friends here in the U.S. and in the Philippines.
A visitation will be held at El Camino Memorial - Sorrento Valley, located at 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd, San Diego, CA 92121, on February 19, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The funeral service is scheduled for February 20, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, also at El Camino Memorial - Sorrento Valley.
The committal will take place at Miramar National Cemetery, located at 5795 Nobel Dr, San Diego, CA 92122, on February 20, 2026, from 11:15 am to 11:45 am.
