Juanita “Julie” Cacho Farin died peacefully on Sept. 10, 2022, in San Diego, Calif., at the age of 91. She was born Julieta Cacho in San Narciso, Philippines, where she enjoyed playing basketball and volleyball as a young woman. She immigrated to the United States after marrying Federico “Freddie” Farin, traveling via boat to Angel Island. After arriving, Julie and Freddie drove down the 101 to her new hometown of San Diego, where Freddie was stationed with the U.S. Navy.
During her professional career, Julie held a number of sales positions, first as an Avon distributor, then as a World Book Encyclopedia sales associate and as an American General Life Insurance sales agent. She was a great people person and enjoyed nurturing her orchid collection and attending the horse races in Del Mar.
Julie will be greatly missed and is survived by her daughter, Emelyn Farin of San Diego, and daughter Nancy and son-in-law Lorenzo Nava of Indianapolis; grandchildren Peter Santos, Jr., Lorena and grandson-in-law Anthony Ruggero, Eric and granddaughter-in-law Michele Santos, Julia and grandson-in-law Daniel Purdy, and Alyssa Santos, all of San Diego; and great-grandchildren Lucio and Cecilia Ruggero, and Leilani and Kaia Purdy, all of San Diego. Julie Farin was the last to join her parents and eight siblings in the home of his Lord on Sept. 10, 2022.
Visitation viewing will be held between 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 19, 2022, at El Camino Memorial – Sorrento Valley Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022, at El Camino Memorial – Sorrento Valley Chapel, with the burial immediately following. A Celebration of Life reception in honor of Julie will be at Sunrise Buffet, 3860 Convoy St., San Diego, CA 92111 immediately following the burial.
