Ken was born on October 4, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois, the only son of Mary Frances Hay and Kenneth Edmund Zerrien Sr. Ken grew up with two older sisters, Anne and Joan, who cherished their little brother "Kenny."
Ken lived in Park Ridge and Arlington Heights, Illinois before moving with his family to Stockton, California where he attended public schools and received an Associate in Arts degree from San Joaquin Delta Junior College.
Ken served proudly in the U.S. Navy from 1975 to 1981, including service aboard the USS Okinawa and the USS Gridley, and at the Naval Weather Service Facility, Naval Air Station, North Island/San Diego and San Clemente Island. He was praised by superior officers for his professionalism, knowledge, attention to detail, positive contributions to morale and leadership qualities. Ken worked for many years as a manager at the Westerfield Company, a light-bulb manufacturer in San Diego. He also earned an Amateur Radio License (ham radio) and enjoyed walking on the beach and playing with his dog, Mitzi.
Both parents predeceased him. He is survived by his sisters and their families, who wish to thank public servants in the San Diego County Office of the Medical Examiner for their kindness and professionalism.
