to Malcolm my next-door neighbor and friend of many years.
In some   way you are still here in Ocean Beach with three memorial candles by our shared entryway., so I will always call your apartment Malcolm's place. It will always be! See you good buddy. Thanks to brother Tim for his help in grieving.  Lloyd Hill

	I met Malcom soon after moving to San Diego in 1976. We both had a good sense of humor and quickly became friends. He had a love for life that was contagious. He loved surfing, motorcycle racing, and racquetball which we enjoyed together for many years. Malcom also had a playful sort of humor. Interacting with him at times was like sparring with a kitten. In fact, I can clearly see and hear his laughter right now (and whenever I think of him). I will always cherish that. Although it would be difficult to pick one thing I valued most about Malcom, if I had to, it would be his friendly and selfless nature. He was always there to lend a hand. He was seldom down, was always encouraging and uplifting in his mannerism and speech. He tended to see the good in everyone. Much of these traits I learned of through knowing him. I don’t think my world could have been the same without him and, for that, I am eternally grateful. I called Malcom about 6 days before his passing. We were reminiscing for about 90 minutes, “laughing all the way”. He did not mention his illness and I did not detect it. His last words to me were: “God bless you”. I think that may have been a message to us all.

Mal was my friend,  and I was his.
I will forever be grateful for all of the fond memories of fun times and adventures we had together going back as far as the 1980's. We shared a love of motorcycling and back country trips on many many weekends over the years. Mal was a caring, compassionate, private man with a kind soul and will be greatly missed by all that had the pleasure of getting to know him.

I have always appreciated Malcom for his kindness and gentleness. Our family vacation with him in Florida was one of my favorites. But most of all, I appreciated his loving relationship with my mom. He will be dearly missed by all of us. 

Everyone knows what a great person Malcom was, we will all miss him so very, very much.

My knight in shining armor, you have been my handsome handiman, mechanic, and taxi. But mostly you were always there for me, and I love you for that. Thank you for keeping me sane when I felt that I was not. You are one of the best human beings I ever met. I have always admired your common sense and your ability to do the right thing. I will miss you greatly...
