It is with great solemnity that we announce the passing of our beloved Manuel Casil Bungcayao, Sr., a devoted family man and outstanding individual, born on March 4, 1943, in Calayab, Laoag City, Philippines, who peacefully passed away on March 16, 2026, in Escondido, California. Throughout his life, he demonstrated remarkable talents, brilliance, academic prowess and athleticism, excelling in track and field during his elementary and high school days. His exemplary character, marked by humility, integrity, and compassion, inspired numerous individuals. As a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, relative, and friend, his life embodied the values of love, faithfulness, kindness, and selflessness. He was hardworking, loving, caring, understanding, forgiving with a pure and joyful heart and that makes everyone or anyone captured instantly with a close connection to building long lasting friendships and relationships! He is blessed and gifted with indescribable sense of humor and based on my own experience the best comedian ever I know! Growing up with him as the eldest child, is living a life full of smiles, laughters, and never-ending jokes even when amid challenges, sickness and his most difficult few days of his last breaths. Throughout his lengthy illnesses suffering from Cancer and Alzheimer’s disease, he fearlessly continue to embody hope, humor, strength and resilience, reminding everyone that these qualities can outlast even the most challenging medical prognosis. As a validation to that, even his Drs., Nurses, and Healthcare professionals that met him at the ER, Hospital and Skilled Nursing Facility, he made them smile and laugh! He also did not agree with the Drs advice that his last weeks and days of his life was ending. He survived and outlived all the terminal diagnoses and lived four more years longer. His 63-year commitment to his wife, Rosita, is a testament to his enduring loyalty and devotion, as well as a loving father who would do anything and everything just for the family to have a better and fulfilling life!!! His unconditional and unmatched love, supports and sacrifices to his family, relatives, friends and community were just a few of the legacies he built to last a lifetime and will be passed on to the generations ahead! Together with wife Rosita, they built and raised a family of educated and successful children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. One of the high achievements they have accomplished and awarded as married couple was their recognition as parents of the year in 1997. God-fearing, faithful, prayerful and his favorite words although short he means so well for all of us “I love you so much and God bless you” was always a part of a conversation! He was able to entrust and surrender everything to our Father God Almighty and received all the Holy Sacraments before his passing. His invaluable life, love and legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched and will continue living to all of us who are following and exemplifying his great values, milestones and achievements here on earth and in heaven!
