From the moment I met Pa at the ages of 62 and 90, I knew our time would be short. However limited, it was enough to solve genetic puzzles, understand my place in his life as his eldest child and, most importantly, feel his love. We both recognized that we missed many  opportunities together. As he exclaimed after our first meeting, “I was robbed”. We both were, Pa, as were your grandchildren and great grandchildren through me. Still, it was a miracle to meet you under the circumstances. It is one of life’s mysteries that you can meet someone and feel a deep connection, as if they’ve been with you all the time. The song, “Turn Around, Look at Me” seems to capture how he often felt based on our conversations. I can only thank God that he answered your prayers for me to find you. With God’s grace we will be reunited someday.

My uncle, Manuel, was the youngest sibling of my Mom. We love him very much. When we were not able to attend his 93rd Birthday celebration due to the pandemic, he told me that he hopes that we will still be able to visit him while he was still alive. I'm glad we were able to do that last May, 2021. He was so happy that day. And when we were about to leave while backing up in their driveway, he opened their garage door to waive goodbye to us even if it was hard for him to walk and we were so touched. It was as if he knows that that would be the last time that we would see him alive. We're sorry and saddened by his loss.  We would like to extend our condolences to my Aunt, Ching Espiritu, to my cousins Molly and Mitzi, and to my nieces and nephews.

My sincere condolences to Ching and the Espiritu family.  Manny always shared his quick smile and kind words to us during our years in the 1990s as Manny and Ching’s next door neighbors. We were a young family just starting out and they were very kind and loving. They loved all their grandchildren.
