Marites Catungal Velasquez

Marites Catungal Velasquez, age 50, went home to be with the Lord at 3:16 PM on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She lived every day with courage, faith, and a deep devotion to her family and friends — even after being diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer in June 2023.

Caring for others came naturally to her. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant from 2011 until her resignation in July 2023. In 2013, she was proudly recognized as one of Life Care Center of Escondido’s best Certified Nursing Assistants in her hometown of Escondido, California. She relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada in June 2017, carrying that same warmth, humor, and devotion wherever she went.

She is lovingly survived by her husband of 25 years, Terry Garcia Velasquez, and her three children, Yuan, Yennalie, and Yustin. She is also survived by her parents, Francisco and Ana, and her siblings Bernard, Lorna, Janice, Francisco Jr., Jeffrey, and Rhoderick.

Marites was born in Dagupan City, Pangasinan, Philippines, where she spent her childhood, teenage years, and early adulthood before beginning a chapter in the United States in 2000.

Beyond her work and devotion to her family, Marites had a gift for bringing people together. She loved cooking meals that gathered everyone around the table, singing with joy at parties, and tending lovingly to her plants. Among friends, she was known as the life of the celebration — always ready with a song and a smile.

Marites will be remembered for her kindness, her laughter, and the way she cared for everyone around her. Her memory will forever be cherished, and she will be deeply missed — but we take comfort in knowing she is now at peace with the Lord.
