Martha “Boots” Head Martha M. (Anderson) Head, known as “Boots”, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2014 at 96 years old. Born July 1, 1918 in Laclede, Missouri, she traveled to San Diego by train in 1940 with a silver dollar in her purse from her father. She was a San Diego resident for 74 years, and married James “Don” Head, her school sweetheart, in Yuma, Arizona on November 16, 1940. She had many friends, loved camping and the outdoors. She was proud to have met General John J. “Black Jack” Pershing, another Laclede, Missouri native. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald and sister Louise. She is survived by Freda (Head) McMillin and family of Lakeside, California and Susan Atkinson & family of Riverside, California. Services will be held at 10am on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at El Camino Memorial- Pacific Beach, 4710 Cass Street, San Diego, California 92109.
