Miguel Angel Cruz went to meet his Maker on August 31, 2012. Miguel was 55 years old, when he succumbed to pancreatic cancer. Miguel passed away quietly in his home surrounded by his wife, sister and close friends. Miguel passed unto the other side as his sponsor read to him from the Big Book.
This past year Miguel fought a hard and difficult battle, he surprised everyone around him as we witnessed Miguel fight this illness with dignity and courage. He will be greatly missed by his, wife, family and friends.
Miguel’s greatest accomplishment was earning his fifteen year pin. Miguel was an outstanding member of the Bilingual Club. He was a well respected and admired member of the recovery community in Stockton California. Miguel was a living testimony to many young men who were struggling in their life with addiction, through Miguel’s example and mentoring many young men were able to begin their own successful road to recovery.
Another very important part of Miguel’s life was his twenty year relationship and marriage to the Love of his life Vicki Cruz. Miguel was a loyal and dedicated partner and spouse, he and Vick were best friends as well. They were inseparable and always looked forward to spending quiet time at home with each other. Miguel also assumed the role of father and grandfather for Vicki’s children and grandchildren. He had grown to love and care for all of the children and grandchildren as his own and they in return also loved and respected Miguel as a father figure and grandfather figure.
Miguel will also be missed by his siblings, Fidel, Josefina, Norma, Henry, Rudy and Irma. Miguel was dear to their hearts and loved by his siblings. We will remember his beautiful smile and the mischievous twinkle his eyes had when he wanted to play around. Miguel was the center of our lives and we will miss him greatly but he is now with Jesus, his sister Lucia and his parents Joseph and Matilde. Now the Angels are rejoicing in the homecoming of such a wonderful and beautiful man into the folds of Heaven.
