Modesta Tamayo

Modesta Santos Jimenez Tamayo, 92, passed away on January 8, 2026 in San Diego, California surrounded by her family. She was happily married to the late Amado Tamayo, with whom she shared over 50 years of marriage.

Modesta ‘Moding’ was born on November 4, 1933 in Mona, Alaminos, Pangasinan, Philippines  to Alberto Jimenez and Sabina de los Santos. She was the youngest daughter of fourteen children.

Modesta will be remembered by her warm and welcoming heart, her sense of humor, and her unending love for her family. She was immensely proud of all her grandchildren and took great joy in babysitting and spending time with them. She enjoyed simple things - cooking and baking, playing cards, penny slots at the casino, watching TFC, and hosting family and friends. She was the foundation of the family who left a legacy of hard work, loyalty, and kindness. She will be dearly missed by her many family and friends.

Modesta is preceded in death by her husband, Amado, and her son, Glenn. She is survived by Glenn’s widow, Denise, and their daughter Rachel; her son, Bobby, his wife Trisky, and their children Sophie, Daniel and Levi; and her daughter Lisa, her husband Tony and their children Lauren, Andrew, Anna and Lucas.

Visitation will be held at El Camino Memorial in Sorrento Valley on Monday, January 26, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

The funeral mass is scheduled on Tuesday,  January 27, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Good Shepherd Catholic Church.

The committal will take place at Miramar National Cemetery following the mass from 1:15 pm to 1:45 pm.
