Nick was born on April 2, 1930 in San Diego and passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 31, 2014.
He began working as a fisherman and then served in the Korean War as a combat soldier. Nick continued to fish for several years after the war. He then worked as a tavern owner (primarily at the Lamplighter) for the next 37 years until his retirement.
Nick was predeceased by his five brothers: Joe, Vince, Frank, Tony & Albert. He is survived by: his loving wife Marie (Trevisani), son Leonard and his wife Kathy, son Vic and his wife Jennifer, son Nick and his wife Tonya, 6 beautiful grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Nick’s greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
The viewing will be Sunday June 8, 2014 at Merkley-Mitchell Mortuary 3655 5th Ave from 4pm – 7pm. The celebration of Nick’s life will begin Monday June 9, 2014 at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Little Italy at 9am with a Rosary and Mass. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery & Mausoleum.
