I am so sorry for the loss of Al, it was so much fun and so many memories for the times we had together,and am so grateful for them all. You will be missed.

I am so sorry about the loss of my uncle and a great man I am very thankful for all the times I had to spend with him when he came to visit in Minnesota when I went to San Diego and when he and Arlene went to my brother Randys wedding in FL. I am so thankful that I had the chance to really get to know him. He will be dearly missed!

Gary & Guy, You always spoke respectfully and fondly of your father. He was a mentor rewarded by two great sons.  My condolences for your loss.

Orville Albert Hassen made his debut into the world in January 1930. He was the first of four boys, born to Albert and Barbara Hassen, in the small town of Kindred, North Dakota.

After graduating from Kindred High School, Orville continued to work on his Fathers farm while attending college.
 
Orville met his future wife Helen, while they were working for a marketing firm traveling around the country on trains. They married in 1949 and raised twin boys, Gary and Guy. Orville and Helen were married for 44 years until her death in 1994.

He joined the U.S. Navy in 1947 and began his career as a cook. He later changed his status to an Aerographers Mate (AG-Meteorologist). Orville was assigned all over the world from ships to land-based billets. These included, from Trinidad to Japan and all points in-between. 

He received multiple commendations, including the Navy Commendation Medal while serving aboard the U.S.S. Ticonderoga during the Viet Nam war. His 30-year tour of duty with the Navy was served with honor and distinction.
 
Orville continued working after the Navy with his longest stay as a Sales Manager at La Mesa RV. He was an avid golfer and remained so until his last year. His fondest round of golf was the Old Course in Scotland. He thoroughly enjoyed his trips back to North Dakota for his class reunions.

This kind, generous, friendly, funny and intelligent man died peacefully in his sleep on January 4, 2013. He is survived by his 2 sons, Gary and Guy; grandson Scott; brothers, Robert and Roger; and innumerable friends.
