

Phyllis M. Rose, 86, died unexpectedly on February 25th due to complications from a fall. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Phyllis was born in San Diego on October 17, 1927 to Matthew C. Monise and Mary C. Lucas. She lived in Point Loma her entire life, graduating from Point Loma High School in 1945.
Phyllis’ life was dedicated to her family, her faith and her community. A homemaker while her husband Antone (Tony) was tuna fishing, Phyllis raised their three children while continuing to be an active member of the community she loved. Phyllis was deeply devoted to the UPSES hall in Point Loma, as well as a member of many social and civic groups. Phyllis was also a devoted member of her Catholic faith and Saint Agnes Church where she and Tony were married. Phyllis, an avid Padre fan, never missed a season dating back to Lane Field. She also continued to attend her weekly bingo nights with her dear friends.
Phyllis and Tony were married 59 years before he passed away in 2006. She was also predeceased by her brother Matthew C. Monise Jr. in 1996. She is survived by her son Ronald (Latti); daughters: Cheryl (Dave) and Janice (Cris); eight grandchildren: Ronald, Sean, Christina, George, Antone, Ashley, Phyllis and Anthony; three great-grandchildren: Delores, Diana, and Hayley; and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
