Husband, Dad, Papa, Son, Friend, Trojan
Conquest played a final time for Ralph Rendon the morning of November 13th, 2023. Ralph grew up in Montebello with a loving mother and father. He attended St. John Military Academy where he established lifelong friendships before going to the University of Southern California as a second-generation Trojan. He graduated USC as a member of the class of 1959, where he found a very special home that will be with him forever. Also making lifelong friends as a Trojan, he loved his time at the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity, attending football games and partaking in many extra-curricular activities, some of which remain secret to this day. His time at USC truly shaped the rest of his life.
Ralph met his future wife Tina in 1972, and they married in San Diego in October 1973. Together, they built a family and life in Encinitas. Family life included soccer practices and games, trips to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for USC football games, vacations in Hawaii and visits to Wisconsin, Florida and Texas in recent years.
Some of his memorable contributions include running with the Olympic torch in 1984, recruiting Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Allen and other future Trojans to USC, and being recognized at his 50th reunion ceremony at USC.
Ralph was also involved in California politics from an early age and advised many campaigns and candidates over the years. His love of politics and civic engagement were on display at home.
He loved spending time with his family. Many holidays and meals were shared together, naps and snuggles on the couch with both grandchildren and dogs, USC football games, professional soccer games and graduation celebrations.
Always memorable, Ralph touched people across the world with his larger-than-life personality and kindness. He will be especially missed by his wife of 50 years, Tina, daughters Lisa Davidson (Jeff), Alexis Tanner (Steve), grandchildren Abigail and Julia Davidson of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, Eva, Lyla and Harper Tanner of Frisco, Texas, and Riley Rendon of Modesto, California. His canine companion Sadie is also missing him.
He was preceded in death by both his parents Ralph Sr., and Concha Rendon, along with his son, R. Adam Rendon in 2018.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, November 28th at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church, 1001 Encinitas Boulevard, Encinitas, California. The family invites you to a reception following the service onsite at the church.
Fight on Forever Daddy.
