Robert or Bob as he liked to be called, passed away on October 18, 2023, at the VA Medical Center in
Minneapolis. He was 78 years old. Bob was born in New York on August 21, 1945. He was preceded
in death by his wife Ester and brothers, Richard, William, and Harry. Bob is survived by his brothers,
Fred, Tom, John, and Jamie, his children Kate & Nick, and his cherished granddaughters Carmela,
Ester, and Stella. Bob fiercely loved his family and his country. He joined the US Navy as a young
man in 1963. A decade later he married Ester in Alliance, Ohio and they moved to Pacific Beach
Washington and started a family. In 1974 Navy orders brought them to San Diego. Bob proudly served
his country on submarines while his family made San Diego home. He retired from the Navy in 1989
and continued to serve his fellow veterans working as a master electrician and later in the IT
department at the VA Medical Center in San Diego. After this second career of service, he enjoyed life,
especially his role as Grandpa. In 2015 Bob made Blaine, MN his new home.
