Today we pause in humble submission to the will of the one and only true God in heaven who in his perfect timing has called home to eternity one of his own, Ruby Ellen Mitchell Franklin. Ruby was born September 7, 1953 to Booker and Liddell Mitchell in Lisbon Louisiana. She was the oldest child of six children. Preceded her in death her father, Booker Mitchell, two brothers: Robert Lane and Timothy Mitchell. At an early age her family relocated to San Diego California. Ruby received her formal education at Stockton Elementary and San Diego High School. Her hobbies were art, baseball and singing. Ruby was employed with the County of San Diego Social Services for 18 years and San Diego Blood Bank for 3 years. Ruby accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age. She was a member of Mt. Zion and later joined Pilgrim Progressive Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Joseph Foxworth, Sr. Due to her illness Ruby was not able to attend church as much as she would have liked too. She had a strong faith and belief in God. Early in life Ruby met and married her lifetime partner to Marion Franklin on May 24, 1974. They were blessed with a union lasting 41 years. To this union one son was born: Terron Franklin. Ruby was a beautiful person, loved by many. She was a loyal wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. To know Ruby was to love her and never forget her. On Tuesday, August 4, 2015, was a gloomy day for those who knew and loved Ruby. That was the day God opened his arms real wide to welcome His loving child home. Although Ruby’s physical body is gone, she is still with us and will live in our hearts and minds forever. We are all God’s children; some of us are loaned out for a little longer than others. Only God knows when He is ready for us. So let us celebrate all the good times and the memories we shared during the time Ruby was with us. She leaves to cherish her wonderful memories: Her husband Marion (BB) Franklin; Son Terron Franklin (Nina); granddaughter Carter L Franklin; mother Liddell Mitchell; two sisters, Laura (Leon) Blakeney Shana Mitchell, brother James Edward Mitchell all of San Diego CA., a host nieces, nephews, cousins, numerous other relatives and friends who will mourn her passing yet celebrate her life.
