I had the pleasure of caring for Ruth for the past 16 years in our dental office. I loved how feisty she was and loved hearing the stories of her travels and adventures. She always inspired me in the way she lived her life to the fullest. She would always joke and say "Hallelujah? are we almost done?" Whenever I hear that hymn or song I always  think of her fondly.  Hallelujah Ruth, you are finally home!

Ruti truly was one of a kind. Her laughter, joy, exuberance and sense of fun were contagious. We all have our stories. I particularly recall with great fondness our expeditions together to study Spanish in South America! I was always amazed how Ruti was willing to try anything . I believe she was by then in her 70s, yet we went mountain climbing and schlepping by bus to little villages in the middle of nowhere. One such memory comes to mind . We decided to take a bus to a farmers market somewhere in Ecuador.  This market was genuinely local, meaning not a tourist in sight, mostly goats, pigs, cows and plenty of indigenous people. We were so fascinated that we forgot to keep hydrated. The sun was broiling. At some point, Ruti’s lost her mojo and began to faint. I semi panicked but quickly got her lying down on a bench, by which time she was totally out of it. I started yelling AGUA AGUA, I NEED WATER. Three Indian ladies watched over Ruti while I frantically sprinted around the water in search of water. When I finally managed to obtain a bucketful, I ran back and immediately proceeded to pour the entire pail over Ruti’s head. My heart was palpitating but full of relief when she opened her eyes and  muttered  “what’s happening?” Much to our mutual delight, Ruti, forever the heroine, got up and we managed to make it back to the bus . For days following,we laughed about this incident and decided to keep it OUR SECRET

There is so much I will remember about you - your zest for life,  your wicked sense of humour,  your mischievousness.  We were best when we were out shopping or eating out at restaurants.  You loved coming to South Africa - the people, the scenery, the food.  Thank you for sharing those good times!  I will miss you terribly.

There are not enough words to describe the special friendship we had with Ruti, for the past 60 years. The deep sorrow we feel knowing that our best friend is no longer with us. 
All is left now is the fond memories especially the sense of humor we shared with Ruti the thought of which consoles our hearts.

Ruti was a bright light . Her smiling positive outlook on life was infectious.
She once told me a story of going to a restaurant and ordering dessert first, because you  never know.

She never complained when her SD close knit family dispersed to all parts of the world . When she moved to the Vi she said she was happy that she was in a situation that she would not have to burden her kids .

May her bright shine upon all of us, and her memory be a blessing to her family.

I first met Rutie and Gershon when they still lived in Fresno, and I was living in Cape Town.. this was over 30 years ago.
We often played bridge over the years, dined together, went to movies, and enjoyed riding with her in her little red car.
Many happy memories..
Today, my thoughts are with all her loved ones here and in Israel, as well of course her twin sister Anita.

Eran, Heidi, Guy and family, I am so sorry for your loss, May Ruth's memory be a blessing.
I hope you will find peace and be comforted during this time of sorrow.

Ruti was a very special friend that I was fortunate to have known and loved.  I recall many special dinners at her apartment that I spent with her and some of  her  wonderful family.  
Our special Sushi dinners that we had on our dinners out,  I so much enjoyed our years of playing bridge. 
I am going to miss my very special friend and am so thankful for the time spent with her. 
I send my condolences and love to the family.


Ruthi was one of the first people I met when I moved here.  We had dinner a few times, talked about how she ended up here, shared our interest in movies, which we attended at the Vi's theater.  Told her about the Eckstein I knew from an Antique store In London and who my wife and I ended up meeting on a cruise to Greece.  She said no relative.  She was such a warm person always with a smile and she shared a name with my beloved late wife Ruth even though they spelled it differently. I will miss her.
