Not a holiday goes by when I don’t think of him.  He would always show up unannounced because he knew his auntie would have plenty to eat.  And he could seriously eat.  I miss my gentle giant and his mom.

I pray everyday for them and keep them in my heart always❤️🙏🏾

I truly missed my gentle giant over the holidays.  He would either come by with Tamu for a plate or I would see them at Vis for a family gathering.  Miss them so much😩

It’s been a rough year. Too many loved ones lost but will not be forgotten. I wanted to express my sincere condolences to Sanyika’s family and look forward to celebrating his life this Friday. Sanyika was one of my best friends and was a selfless soul that always thought about others first. I am blessed that I was able to spend a little time with him on his last Birthday in July 2020 and we hung out and spun records at Stoney’s on my birthday in September...speak easy style. Whole bar to ourselves with the sound system cranked up and the Lakers just won the championship earlier in the night. You all know he was a happy guy! That’s the last memory of hanging out with Sam and it’s a great one! Love y’all. See you soon.

I met Sam in the late 90's.  We met through his sister-in-law, Veronica and connected immediately.  He was one of my best friends.   My most memorial time with him is when he visited me in Texas.  I think it was in the early 2000's.  I had just moved there and was feeling homesick; it really was cool of him to fly out and hang and just let me know I'd be okay.  We were representin SD all around Dallas with his Chargers gear and my SD t-shirts.  We even made up Texan nicknames which we called each other from that point forward.  He was Bubba and I was Gladys.  

My last contact with Sam (aka Bubba) was in August 2020.  He texted me, "What Up Gladys, How Y'all Doing? Love Bubba."  We were briefly chatting about the Padre's Game we went to with my dad a few years back and checking in on how our families were doing.  We had planned to link up as soon as it was COVID safe so I was caught off guard when I learned the news of his passing.  I reached out immediately to Veronica to confirm and was saddened to hear it was true.

Sam was so selfless and thoughtful and always made a point to reach out and check in with me.  I will miss our talks, our inside jokes and his laughter.  He was a true friend and beautiful spirit.  "Until we meet again Bubba!  Love Gladys"

Sanyika was one of my dear friends at SDSU. He was kind and thoughtful. I remember a time when I was super busy with work and school and he knew I was a vegetarian and cooked roasted, marinated portobellos for me. I had never tried them before. They were incredible!i will never forget that kind gesture and it breaks my heart that he will not be here in body. My condolences to his family and friends.

I will miss my gentle giant.  Having lunch with he and his mom(my road dog) at Sizzler one day.  Sam had all you can eat shrimp but I offered some of my coconut shrimp, he cleaned my plate.  Tamu was so embarrassed!  My baby could seriously eat and loved coming to my house for Q as he called it.  It is still hard to believe we will not be hitting each other up on FB or talking on the phone.  Until next time baby, love you so much. Aj

Sam was my big brother. I was lucky enough to have my husband share his best friend Sam with me.Nov 27th 1995 Sam was in the room with me right after having my son Javan, & Sam would never let me forget it! Sam was a gentle giant. He never let us forget that he loved us. We always argued but our love for the chargers, lebron was unmatched. I will never ever forget you. I pray for strength , love & guidance for loved 1’s. I wish this wasn’t true, I miss you & don’t want to think of important events happening without you. Thank you for never leaving our side Sam love you.

My deepest condolences go out to Sanyika’s family. I worked with him for a few years, and he was a positive presence and a great coworker, always willing to lend a hand and share a smile. He was a passionate basketball fan, and I’ll miss our many spirited discussions about the NBA and his idol, Lebron James. Rest in Peace, Sanyika. Everyone whose life was touched by you is mourning the loss of a good and kind man.
 

My heart hurt deeply after I heard about Sanyika’s passing. I remember his funny laugh, his love for debating, and his wide smile. He liked to have deep discussions about life and his observations of the world. The world has lost an advocate for the underdogs and a man who truly understood the important things of life. I will never forget you Sanyika, you were one of a kind. 

My condolences to Sanyika’s Brother & Family. I knew sanyika for the last couple of years throughout work and He has been one of the few people by my side going through my ups and downs with me & giving me all the advice I can soak up , he was an awesome person, I’m going to miss the jokes and laughs and after work Adventures ! Ima miss our Who’s buying this taco Tuesday debate, oh how you loved street tacos & taking you to the Jamaican Food spot and munching on some good home cooked food..  Rest Easy Brother Till I see You again 💜

My condolences to Sanyika's family and friends. He will definitely be missed. I knew him as an upbeat and always approachable and friendly person. We sometimes met after work at a local brewery where we would unwind and talk about how our day went. It was always therapeutic and very much appreciated. RIP my friend. I'll see you on the other side.

I am deeply saddened to hear about your passing. My condolences to you and your family. I was a past co-worker of Sanyika’s at Goodwill. I always enjoyed talking shop, music, drums, and other life related discussions during our breaks. You will surely be missed. 

My condolences to the family. I worked with Sanyika a couple years ago. He was always in a good mood and friendly. He will be missed. 

I deeply regret to have learned of Sanyika's passing. He had a tendency to be stubborn, but even after having a heated disagreement with him, he'd always try to make sure everyone was alright. I will miss his stories, advice, jokes, and I will always fondly recall his boisterous laughter.   Prayers for his family during these tremendously difficult times.
