

Stephen Mulligan, a long time Del Cerro resident, passed away May 22, 2012. He was born in Mineola, New York on July 28, 1930 to Fredrick and Eulalia Mulligan. Due to his father’s position with a national produce company, he attended grammar and high school in New York, Illinois, Indiana and Massachusetts. He attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, and Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago, Illinois where he received a Juris Doctorate Degree. Mr. Mulligan was licensed to practice law in California, Illinois and Indiana.
In 1953, Mr. Mulligan married Kathleen Milloy, and in 1956 the couple relocated to San Diego. Mr. Mulligan dedicated his life to his family, church and community. He was a member of the California and San Diego Bar Associations, as well as the St. Thomas More Society. As an active member of St. Therese Parish, Mr. Mulligan served as the first Parish Council President and the President of the Holy Name Society. He also served as the attorney for the San Diego Diocese and as President of the Diocesan and National Boards of Educational Ministry. Along with his wife of fifty-five years, whom he lost in 2009, Mr. Mulligan received a Papal Honor, and was invested in the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, Western Lieutenancy of the United States.
Mr. Mulligan is survived by his three children, Maureen Loeswick (Tom) of Campbell, California, Eileen Marks (Greg) of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Sheila Daily (John) of Carlsbad, California, as well as his four granddaughters, Megan and Allison Loeswick and Caitlin and Kelsey Marks.
Stephen was a generous man of value, with a strong faith in God who will be missed by all.
A funeral mass will be conducted on May 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Therese Church, located at 6016 Camino Rico, San Diego. Donations can be made to the St. Therese Building Fund, 6016 Camino Rico, San Diego, California 92120.
