Stephen Earl Parks

Stephen Earl Parks, better known as Steve, passed away on October 14, 2017 at home. He is survived by his wife Margaret Fischels, and children, Cynthia Clayton, Kathleen MacCarthy, Ronald, Mark, Sarah and Zachary Parks and Kevin Rokusek. Steve was born September 10, 1936 in Fresno, CA to Ralph and Thelma Vivian (Becker) Parks. Steve spent most of his youth and adolescence in Fresno, CA. After graduating from Roosevelt High School he served in the Air Force for four years. He returned to Fresno and attended Fresno Junior College and completed his Bachelor’s degree at Fresno State College. He carried two majors: elementary education and geography. He was a few credits short of his geography major. He returned to get his master’s degree at the satellite branch of Azusa Pacific College in San Diego in Education. In 1962, he married Beverly Johnson. She had three children (Cynthia, Kathleen and Ronald) from a previous marriage which he adopted. They had one son (Mark). They were married for 14 years. In 1977, Steve married Margaret (Peggy) Fischels. They had two children, Sarah Cunegunda and Zachary Mathias. They celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on April 30, 2017. He had numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. In 1962, he moved to San Diego to work in the San Diego Unified School District. Steve taught elementary school for five years and junior high school for twenty six years. He retired from teaching in February of 1993. He also work for Strauss Properties and Danube Properties until April, 2001. Steve was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, Rancho Penasquitos, CA. There will be visitation on October 26, 2017 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM held at El Camino Mortuary, 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego, CA 92121. Rosary will be said at 6:30PM with a sharing of memories following the rosary. A funeral mass will be heard for Steve on Friday, October 27, at 2:00PM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 13541 Stoney Creek Road, Rancho Penasquitos, CA 92129.
