Our dear Bill gracefully passed away on July 14th. He will be greatly missed by his wife Patricia as well as family and friends. Bill’s greatest joy was gathering knowledge and sharing it with others. He was Mr. K to his students who regularly borrowed books from his large collection, and many who stayed in touch long after graduation day. Teaching was his passion.
After retirement Bill and Pat relocated from New Mexico to San Diego to be entertained on an almost daily basis by his California grandson. Bill missed his Albuquerque friends terribly. All are special people who stayed close through many phone conversations and visits, a mutual admiration society.
Easy going Bill had a subtle sense of humor that he never lost as his abilities drifted away one by one. He appreciated his caregivers through the many stages of Dementia/Alzheimer’s Disease. The family would like to thank Bill’s extra family at the Older Adult Center at Jewish Family Service. We are also grateful for Alzheimer’s San Diego and the supportive staff who offered counseling as well as many fun activities and outings. To the caregivers at Villa Rancho Bernardo, thank you for the excellent care and respect you offered Bill in his final months. Our gratitude is not complete without acknowledging his wonderful caregiver and friend, Donnie Marie.
Bill was predeceased by his parents and his dear brother, Avery. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia, son Mont and daughter-in-law Riśe, daughter Sandra, step daughter Suzanne, grandchildren Olivia, Wesley, and Zane, sister-in-law Louise, nieces Laura and Leanne, and nephew John. A gathering is being planned to honor Bill in the Sandia Mountains of New Mexico later in the fall.
