I was a contractor that did a few jobs at his home. I just now looked him up after bringing a story up about him to my wife and sad to learn he died, but have wonderful memories about our discussions covering bible verses, and ethics questions I had. Me being an evangelical xlutheran. That was 30 years ago and I still say he was a favorite person to meet and work for. Jesus, thank you for Mr. Shipley and we will meet again one day!

Remembering Fr. Shipley on the 2nd anniversary of his death.  May he rest in peace and rise in glory.

A SUPER PROF, I  WAS IN THE FIRST CLASS HE TAUGHT AT USD===PLATO. 
 HE SURELY WILL BE MISSED BY ALL WHO HAD THE PRIVILEDGE OF LEARNING  FROM FATHER'S CLASSES. 

Fr Shipley was very dearly appreciated by our family. When we first moved to San Diego we went to eat in old town and peeked in at the church when he happened to be saying mass. My husband immediately said he reminded him of the cartoon character Mr Limpet with the big glasses,  Don Rickles. We watched him fastidiously come down the center aisle and stop at each pew and turn and say hello to everyone in the pew. That really defined him. He was infinitely authentic and original. His sermons were always engaging and extremely thought out, even with AV. True to his profession, more like a college lecture. We and  the rest of his regulars adored him. Our kids were alter servers. I can’t say enough what a blessing he was to so many. May he Rest In Peace and condolences to his family.  Mary DuQuette and Tom  Sapien, Teresa and Francis 

One of a kind! A kind and understanding priest and a energetic and demanding teacher who expected your full attention and effort into his classes.
Out of class a great sense of humor and always had time for those who truly needed it.
Rest in Peace Father 

Unforgettable man.  The most energetic prof I ever had.  He spoke as he was on a first name basis with Aquinas.  It was always about “potential”.

Loved to throw Charlie Hoch curveballs  at him!
