

Born in Manassas, Virginia, on August 11, 2009, Zachary's athletic prowess was apparent at a young age. There was not a sport he did not excel at, including swimming, baseball, and golf. His talent in sports was a sight to behold and admired by all. He also enjoyed playing card and video games with his family and winning. He was a dutiful big brother who reliably helped around the house with cleaning and repairs.
Zachary is survived by his loving parents, Elizabeth Smith of San Diego, CA and George Tompkins III with stepmother Christina Tompkins of Kissimmee, FL, and his adoring siblings Savannah Smith, Andrew Tompkins, Emily Tompkins, Alexander York and Sabrina Tompkins. Additionally, he leaves behind his grandparents Dixie and Pat McAndrew of Manassas, VA and George "Bill" Tompkins Jr. and Debbie Tompkins of Mechanicsville, MD along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who mourn his loss.
Over the past year, Zachary spoke about becoming a medical professional to aid those facing similar health challenges. In his passing, he expressed hope that his journey would contribute to research and treatment of autoimmune disorders, and one day help find a cure.
Zachary was surrounded by loving family members at his passing. His memory will forever be cherished by all who knew him, and he will be remembered for his courage, determination, and kindness.
