Christine Anderson’s Obituary
Born in the middle of the last century in San Francisco, the second of 4 children, Christine had a happy childhood. She was physically gifted — always the team captain — and had artistic ability as well. She graduated from Lowell High School and soon after moved to New York state where she would live for about 10 years. She became beloved stepmother to Michael and later gave life to her daughter Sierra. Moving back to San Francisco in the late 70's with Sierra, she worked at a few jobs before finding her niche as a Funeral Director at the Neptune Society, where her natural empathy and care for others was put to wonderful effect. She made many dear and lifelong friends during that time. Christine had always been a 49er fan and that intensified during the dream years of Joe, Dwight, Roger and Ronnie and her love for the team continued until the end.
In the late nineties, she began to have health problems that would dog her for the rest of her life, but she still always managed to be cheerful and engaged with others. She enjoyed recording TCM movies to watch on her own schedule. She kept her Christmas tree in place throughout the year. She lived her last 5 years in senior communities where she worked to include as many residents as possible in all the available activities. She was able, once again, to nurture her artistic ability and found real joy in the last months of her life.
Christine was proceeded in death by her parents, Swede and Peggy, her godfather Jim, her daughter Sierra, dear friends Alice and Bobby and her cousin Rob.
She will be greatly missed by her godmother Clella, Uncle Bud, 9 wonderful cousins, siblings Cathy, Chris and his wife Susan, Cynthia and her husband Dennis, stepson Michael and her dear friends — chosen family, really — Nancy, Ben and their daughter Laurel. Not to be forgotten, Terri, who was trying to make a date with Christine in her very last days to head out to their favorite place, Nick's at Rockaway Beach, for lunch and a dose of the great outdoors.
Christine will be well remembered by many who are grateful for the time they had with her, that she no longer feels any pain and that she is reunited with her loved ones on the other side.
