Franklin Lee passed away on February 1, 2016 at the age of 82. He was the third of five children born to Harold and Hom Shee Lee. A native San Franciscan, Frank went to Saint Mary's School and later graduated from Polytechnic High School. After a short stint at San Francisco City College, he served his country in the United States Army for several years. Upon his return, Frank was offered a position at Hewlett Packard's Research and Development Labs in Palo Alto where he was a dedicated employee for over thirty years.
In 1962, Frank married his loving wife, Lily, and moved to Mountain View. For the next twenty six years, they raised their two sons, Darryl and Curtis. In 1998, Frank and Lily moved back to San Francisco where they lived until his final days.
Frank was one of the most intelligent and hard-working men that you would ever meet, and personified his "electrical engineering" background. He built or repaired virtually everything himself, from fixing the family cars to replacing the roof and siding of his house. Few projects were too big or complicated for him to handle. Frank also loved the outdoors. When the boys were young, they would go on annual camping, fishing, and hiking trips. Later in life, he liked to explore the Sierra Nevadas with Lily and their faithful German Shepard in his Toyota 4x4 truck.
Frank is survived by his wife, Lily; sons, Darryl (Diane), and Curtis (Sandy); and four grandchildren, Alison and Dylan (Darryl) and Brittany and Russell (Curtis). He is also survived by his sisters, Frances Jang, Mary Lee, and Sharon Gee (Albert); and brother, George Lee.
His funeral service will be held Saturday, February 13 at 12 noon at Old Saint Mary's Cathedral in San Francisco. The inurnment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Saint Mary's School in San Francisco.
He will be missed by all that shared his company.
