Jeff or JK to his friends, leaves behind his loving wife, Suzanne, daughter and son-in-law, Kimiko and Victor, and grandchildren Mireya, Mililani, Keanu, and Vera; Aunts and Uncles Marcie and Gary, Victor "Vic" and Karen, Libby; brothers and sisters-in-law Janet and Chris, Bryan and Lisa, Tina and Rocky, Adam "Shoe" and Marni, Steve "Witz" and Patty; nephews and nieces Colin, Bryson, Aidan, Brennan, Cayleigh, Matty, Mason, Rowan, Jessy, Samantha, and Aaron; his beloved dogs Gibbs and Koda; cousins; and numerous friends who he called FAMILY.
JK was a huge music fanatic, who in his younger days followed the Grateful Dead, attending over 120 shows. He spent hours listening to live performances and live audience recordings of Jam and New Orleans blues/funk bands. The Rads, WSP, Allman Brothers, Neville Brothers, Dr. John, and Blues Travelers were on his most recent spindle of discs.
He was an avid sports fan of St. John's basketball, Florida Gators and Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders football, and Philadelphia Flyers hockey. He loved watching game shows with Suzanne, often yelling out responses before the contestants, then explaining how he misunderstood the question when he got the answer wrong. His explanations were always met with that skeptical look from Suz, followed by laughter.
Always quick with a joke or story "just for giggles," he loved talking to people, laughing with friends and family, and spending time with his dogs. All who knew him would say his positive attitude was addicting. His favorite topics, besides music, were anything that had to do with Kimiko, Victor, the grandkids, Matty, Mason, Rowan, and Samantha. He also liked to brag about the "killa" cookies, awesome food and soups his in-laws sent home for him.
Love, laughter, music, family, and friends were guiding words in his life.
"Don't mourn for me, have a drink for me (just don't send me the bill), listen to some "killa" muzic while thinking of me, and have a good giggle."
Our appreciation and much love to Sunny and Sharon - thank you for being there with JK; Dr. Eugene Groeger and Dr. James Yoss who were not just Jeff's doctors, but also his friends; Tareq - Trust Medical Transport who treated Jeff like family; Dr. Remo Morelli, West Coast Kidney Institute-Dr. Christian Cruz, Dr. Warren Chang, Dr. Daniel Angeli, and Dr. Albert Kao; Davita Dialysis Webster Street; Davita SSF Home, Jewish Home & Rehab Center; and St. Mary's Medical Center.
