Kevin David Whittaker, Jr

Kevin David Whittaker, Jr. Passed away peacefully in San Francisco, California, surrounded by his loving family on January 8, 2013. Beloved husband of Linda; Much loved father of Kevin, Austin and Brendan and father-in-law of Anu; devoted brother of Sarah Garrigan. Kevin was proceeded in death by his parents Muriel and Kevin Whittaker, and by one daughter, Monica. Kevin's family also included two brothers in law, a sister in law, two nieces and a nephew.

Kevin's love of adventure started when he was a high school student in Rochester, NY, when he hitch hiked across country. Kevin graduated from Monroe Community College, the University of Arizona, where he earned both Bachelors And Masters degrees. He attended the Harvard Graduate School of Design.

Kevin worked for the City of Muscatine, Iowa, for 32 years (1977-2004) as Community Development Director and City Planner. He considered Muscatine his home town and he was active in the United Way and civic organizations. In retirement, Kevin relocated, first to Arkansas, and then to San Francisco. In retirement, he continued to serve the public as a volunteer teaching English as a second language.

The family held private services, in accordance with Kevin's wishes.
