April 19, 1950 – May 5, 2018
Long-time San Francisco resident, Patrick Dean Glasscock, passed away peacefully at home after a short and valiant battle with lung cancer. Throughout his illness, Patrick was surrounded by loving family and friends. He was 68.
Patrick was born in Pueblo, Colorado and attended schools there, and in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, where his family relocated. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas and a master’s degree from Central Michigan University. After graduation, Patrick settled in Mount Pleasant, Michigan where he worked as a social worker.
In 1981, Patrick moved to San Francisco to pursue a doctorate degree. Fueled by an unabated thirst for knowledge, Patrick earned a doctorate in philosophy from the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality. For several years, Patrick had a private sexual counseling practice and taught at Golden Gate University, both of which he found rewarding.
In 1987, Patrick embarked on a banking career with Citigroup, which spanned 26-years. Both his colleagues and clients alike valued his keen financial acumen and his warm southern charm.
Patrick was a gentleman in the truest sense. His easy smile and dry sense of humor made it joyful to be around him. He was a wizard in the garden and could get almost anything to bloom under his care. He filled his yard and his friends’ homes with his signature roses and hydrangeas. Whether on the streets of San Francisco on his red scooter or an airplane headed afar, Patrick loved travel to visit faraway places and his many family and friends, all of whom he cherished. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Patrick left behind his life partner of 33-years, Richard Cooper, his sister, Susie Huttie, brother-in-law, Dave Irvin, brother, Michael Glasscock and his partner, Ron McCarty, his niece Katie Lee Johnson, her husband, Matthew Johnson, his nephew, Phillip Lee Huttie, his great nephew, Mason Joe Johnson, and his great-niece, Charlee Rose Johnson. Patrick was proceeded in death by his parents, Richard Phillip and Mary Catherine Glasscock, and grandparents Vern and Nellie Griffith and Richard and Eva Glasscock.
A Celebration of Life will be held at his home in San Francisco on July 21, 2018, from 2 to 5PM.
