

Benjamin is now reunited with his beloved wife of 62 years, Margaret, who passed away in 2017. Benjamin lived in California all his life, born to Arcadio and Trinidad Avila on March 30, 1929. He was the oldest of 5 children and served in the U.S. Army Reserves until called into active duty as a sergeant in the Korean War. He met and married his wife, Margaret Zuniga Avila. Together they made a life together raising their four children in San Gabriel, California. Benjamin worked for the Los Angeles Unified School District for 30 years without calling in sick for even one day. He was a devoted, loving and gentle husband, father, grandfather, uncle, son and brother.
Benjamin is survived by his brother, George Avila, his four adult children, James, Benjamin, Laura and Martha, his grandchildren, Jason, Alex, Kristy, Daniel, Adrien, Jena, Chloe, Claire, Sean, Dean, Jimmy and Ana, as well as his 10 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild born in 2020.
Services are as follows:
January 28, 2022 - Viewing from 4 pm to 8 pm; Rosary at 6 pm Pacific time - Pierce Brothers Turner Stevens Mortuary, 1136 E Las Tunas drive, San Gabriel California
January 29, 2022 - 10 AM - Mass - Chapel of the Annunciation (San Gabriel Mission Church), San Gabriel, California
Burial follows the services on January 29 at Resurrection Cemetery in Los Angeles, California
