I would like to share two of my sister’s achievements.

First, it was a miracle that she was admitted to Yunnan University Medical School.  A middle-aged woman who has not graduated from high school (just one year away), with three young daughters, still wants to enter university after more than ten years of schooling.  I had graduated from the Department of Sociology of Yunnan University at that time and stayed on as a teaching assistant.  She prepared silently and studied day and night, overcoming any and all the difficulties and obstacles she encountered, and obtained the admission letter.  Only someone who has perseverance, hard work, and courage could have achieved this.

Second, she accomplished so much after she arrived in the United States. The first is at work: As Sigang said, she put aside her achievements and status in mainland China and worked in a sewing factory. She worked in the factory for more than ten years, and didn’t retire until she was 84. Moreover, Yunnan Daily organized an English competition for new immigrants.  She won second place, for which the prize was a round trip ticket to Taiwan. She also devoted all of her time and energy to helping her five children immigrate to the U.S. Everyone knows the trials and tribulations of immigrants.

In memory of my fourth aunt Suhua Chen. When Uncle Irving returned to China in 1980, the whole family was elated. Every relative and friend of the Chen family suddenly saw new hope during those difficult days. Our younger generation also took Uncle Irving as an example, and began dreaming the American dream. I am one of the lucky ones. I went abroad very smoothly. I got encouragement and support from my fourth aunt. She especially told me that you must have strong financial support. You must learn to study and work independently. After I came to the United States and my mother settled on the East coast, I Started my lonely life of studying and struggling . I learned that my fourth aunt had also come to the United States. My mother and I felt less lonely. Every weekend, I can talk to my fourth aunt on the phone about their experiences and encourage each other. Like her mother, the fourth aunt let go of her achievements and status in the mainland, and soon started working. Worked in the clothing industry for 10 years and won a certificate from the community. The 70-year-old fourth aunt is still busy with her work. She took the time to come to the east to attend my wedding, and afterwards, my father’s funeral. Every time we meet, we can see how the gray-haired old man is concerned about life Passion and pursuit of ideals. My mother and my fourth aunt spent a lot of good time together. My wife Ji Hua and my daughter Jiahui were also fortunate to go to the west to visit San Diego's Ocean Park and Zoo with my fourth aunt, and we had a lot of good times together. I think our best memory for the fourth aunt is to always think about and remember her passion, love and pursuit for life, and the love and help she extended to her children. She is indeed an older generation in the Chen family that we will always miss.
