Amada was born in Zaculapan, Nayarit, Mexico in 1936. She grew up amidst tobacco fields and swimming in the river with her friends and cousins; she was a very good swimmer. She met Lorenzo, who would be the love of her life and life partner, in her early twenties. They decided to be together and form a family; with their first son Victor being born in the first year, followed by daughter Silvia two years later. Amada dedicated her life to caring for and raising her children in Tepic, moving a few years later to California to reunite with Lorenzo, and returning a few years after to give birth to Xochitl, second daughter and four years later second son, Jorge. Amada moved to California with her children, except for Victor, who had already moved to Mexico City to start his high school studies. The adaptation to a new world was difficult for her, but she made friends very easily and soon established her small support group among her neighbors and some people she met in the temporary jobs she had in a canning factory and food processing plant.
Amada enjoyed life in her own way; she loved music, singing, and dancing. Lorenzo, being a musician, she often accompanied him to events where the band played, she learned to play maracas and guiro and accompanied the group. She danced with her children and grandchildren at home; it looked like a party when she sang and danced while tidying up the house or cooking. One of her great qualities was her generosity; she always tried to help those who needed a little support.
Amada's main mission was her family, whom she adored. In addition to her children, she also took care of 7 of her 9 grandchildren. They were her pride and her favorite way to show them affection was by preparing their favorite meals and, when they were little, taking them to the parks. Amada joined the Alma community center after Lorenzo passed away in 2012. She established strong friendships and participated in many activities as a volunteer. She loved to knit and gave an impressive number of pieces to friends and family. The center provided her with some of the best years during her last decade of life.
Amada began packing her bags for departure during the last month of her life and went on to reunite with her beloved Lorenzo on July 7, 2025, the same day and month that her beloved departed 13 years earlier.
She is survived by her children Victor, Silvia, Xochilt, and Jorge, and her grandchildren Maribel, Paola, AJ, Jasmin, Aris, Yareni, Jonas, Jacob, and Joseph.
You are deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
