In loving memory to my son Andrew.  A bright light in the lives of those he touched.

Been contemplating the right words…

I met Andrew around 2014 when I started working at Chez TJ as a hostess. He caught my eye, however, I did not pay too much attention to him because I was busy in the Front while he was in the Back. Due to enduring demanding nightly dinner services we became acquainted and added each other on FB. I stayed working there for maybe a year before I left. 

In 2017 I found myself looking for a different job, and happened to be chatting with Andrew on FB when he asked if I could host at CTJ because they needed some help.  
This year, Andrew and I started to talk more and got to know each other.

Andrew had such a sweet and kind soul. He was so talented and dedicated to his craft. He gave his heart, soul, sweat, blood and tears to his cooking and he loved CTJ. I truly believed in him with all of my heart and soul. I wished him nothing but the best and for him to achieve his goals and dreams. He gave his all!

One time while in the kitchen Andrew told me a story about his cooking final in school, he was so proud of it, but then the teacher looked at it and asked something like, “and who is this little friend?” 
It was a bug crawling out of the greens! 
Ha-ha!
Andrew smiled his smile… That’s what I fell in love with. His sweetness.

I loved every minute working with Andrew, he’s one of the best person I’ve ever worked with, there is truly nobody like him. He is part of the Chez TJ family I will always have in my heart and memories. He was so loved by all of us. I loved and love Andrew so much. He is in my heart forever always. I am deeply affected by his passing and am completely heartbroken. Yet, I truly believe his spirit is at peace with God now. 

Now you have my deepest sympathy and may my prayers and words provide you some comfort during this time because I feel this great pain in my heart too. Though, I’m grateful I got a chance to spend time with Andrew while he was here.

Our sincere condolences to the Koehler family.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.  Andrew was a very special young man.

It was always a pleasure to see such a smiling face of Andrew when I came by Chez TJ. He showed me his vegetable garden of herbs and veggies he grew on side of the resturant and so proud! It was a couple of years  I was a vendor or selling. Bernardaud plates to Chez TJ and Andrew’s smile always lit up the kitchen with the tiny tiny space they all shared with pastry chef way up in the back. Miss you Andrew and my condolences to the family and  Chef Jarad.



Our hearts go out to the whole Koehler family at this most difficult time.  We pray for comfort and peace. With Love, The Willie Family Dennis Sr., Paula, Dennis Jr., and Tiffanie. 

I’m heartbroken to receive this news. 
Andrew and I weren’t close friends, we went to high school together and had mutual friends and would say hi to each other in the hallway. We followed/friended each other on social media for years. 
In 2015, I was in Afghanistan, deployed. He randomly messaged me to “introduce” himself since we both had never really done that. It was silly banter and he honestly lightened the mood. I was always drooling over the food he posted and constantly brought it up. He said he’d love to make food for me to pick up when I visited home. We stopped chatting towards the end of that deployment and we never got to meet up. I always wanted to message again but felt like I dropped the ball, never hitting him up when I came home. 
That was 2015, I wish I still had those messages. 
Even though we weren’t close, he checked on me at the craziest time in my life, after only ever really being an acquaintance for years. 
Just shows the heart he had, he’ll be missed nonetheless.  
Condolences to the family, as I’m sure this isn’t easy. Praying for you all. 

At one point in time, Andrew was a big part of my life. We lived, laughed, and loved together as two carefree teenagers. While we eventually lost touch, I genuinely believe we always had mutual respect for one another in our endeavors and dreams. I am so sad and sorry to hear of his passing. Please give my condolences to his family and close friends.

Eternal rest grant unto Andrew O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon him. May the soul of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.      I never met Andrew,  but his family in Ohio share their love to many.  I can imagine how wonderful he was.   My prayers are with you all. May God Bless you.

Andrew was so talented, smart, kind, handsome, non-judgmental, he loved everyone and you felt it when you were with him.   He touched all our hearts and left valuable lessons!  Love you buddy, Aunt Kim & Uncle Jim

I wrote about this on my social profiles; just wanted to get this in the hands of Andrew’s family:

This was the last time I saw Andrew. I had this idea for a podcast, and only did a couple of episodes but I thought it would be so cool to get a MICHELIN STAR sous chef in the building to talk about cooking and what it meant to him. 

I knew Andrew since I was probably 15 or 16, and we have had some crazy nights together (I’m sure a lot of buddies can attest to doing the same) and I can honestly say he was the nicest guy to be around. 

And smart— or, intuitive rather. We could sit over a beer and talk about anything.

I hadn’t spoke to him in a year or so, and I gave him a ring one day asking if he’d be interested on coming on the show. He was so pumped and told me he’d love to— we coordinated and he wasn’t late by a minute. My man showed up in a full suit, and brought me a fresh baked artisan bread that was still warm from his oven at home. He gave me a big hug in the elevator and told me he was pumped to be there.

Thats how I’ll forever remember my buddy Andrew. Lost far too soon, but I have some incredible memories of us.

To the Koehler family: 

I cannot even begin to understand the pain that you must be going through, but I can confidently leave you with this: your son (or brother, cousin, nephew, etc) left a positive impact on me, and one that I will never forget. 

I met Andrew through a handful of mutual friends in highschool. I was 2 years younger than him but he treated me as an equal, which at the time felt really foreign to me— I’d see him at school, parties, football games, etc and he wouldn’t hesitate to say hello and crack jokes with me. I always appreciated that.

He was one of those guys that genuinely wanted to connect with people.  He had an infectious smile and was so inviting to everyone. I’m so sorry for the loss, but if there’s one thing I can leave you with, it’s that Andrew left his mark on my life in a big way.

One of our multiple camping trips we took together, this one out to angel island. Andrew is a dear friend that I am going to miss greatly.
