Carnell Eugene Hurd, age 53, of San Jose, California, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021, from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM on the lawn outside of Grace Chapel at Oak Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park.
The funeral service will also be held on the lawn outside of Grace Chapel at 2:30 PM at Oak Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park. Reverend Fannie Davis of Antioch Baptist Church will be officiating.
Burial will follow the funeral service at Oak Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park at 3:00 PM.
Carnell was born in Eagle Lake, Texas on November 7, 1967. He graduated from Rice High School in 1986 where he was a star running back on the Varsity team. He was the shortest player on the team but he was also the fastest! He was so fast that there was a write-up in the local newspaper about him.
Carnell was married to Karen Evans on November 5, 1988; they were married 33 years and three months.
Shortly after their marriage, Carnell worked along with Karen at Tri-City Maintenance, which is Karen’s parent’s business, for about seven years. He then worked as an Injection Molding Technician at Trend Plastics in San Jose for several years. Afterward, he became a Security Officer and worked for various companies for more than twenty-five years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, listening to reggae music and taking trips to various cities and states.
Carnell is survived by his beloved wife, Karen, his daughters, Jaya and Vanessa, his son, Carnell Jr., his mother Jean Evelyn Hurd-Kirks, his sister, Stephanie Kirks, his brother, Gerry Allen Kirks (Kim), and his nieces, Rayvian Kirks, Armonie Kirks, Motravia Kirks, Demonia Kirks, Kamori Walker and a host of other family and friends.
Carnell is preceded in death by his father, LeRoy Kirks, his grandparents, Ervin and Gloria Hurd, and his uncle, Ervin Hurd Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the family in care of Karen Hurd, 200 Ford Rd Spc 8, San Jose, CA 95138.
