I was heartbroken to hear of Cheryl’s passing. Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss.

I first met Cheryl at NDSJ, where we were both in the Partybomb class of 1999!

Cheryl was truly one of a kind — a devoted mother, a loving daughter, and a cherished friend to so many. Her kindness, warmth, and the way she lit up a room with her laughter will never be forgotten. She had a gift for making people feel seen, heard, and loved. Always there with a helping hand, a kind word, or simply her steady presence, Cheryl made the world a gentler, more beautiful place.

Though words can never ease the pain of losing someone so dear, I hope you find comfort in the memories you shared and in the love that surrounds you now. Cheryl’s spirit lives on in all the lives she touched, and she will always be remembered with love and gratitude.

You were such a kind and beautiful neighbor, and I'm so happy we had the chance to meet. You checked in on me after I had my LO, made time to have chats in our front yard, picked tangerines at my house, spent time chatting with me, and made cupcakes for my LO's birthday. You were so kind and I'll always remember how you made me feel. I'll miss your friendship and our talks by the mailboxes. You are so loved and missed.

Cheryl was such a kind, sweet, smart, and fun woman. I was lucky to meet her in HR when I worked for the City of San Jose.  She was talented and very creative.  Cheryl made me laugh even during some stressful work times. She will be missed greatly on earth but is probably making the angels laugh in heaven.

Last year Ho’ike 2024. She’s a hula mom I would make eye contact with in the crowd to make sure everything was ok and always found me during the breaks tell me something funny I might have missed or a food vendor I had to try (MaHalo) . We will miss you soo much at this Ho’ike but you’ll have the best seat in the house.

Cheryl had this gentle way about her — soft-spoken, always smiling, but full of strength and heart. She wasn’t one to look for attention. But when she laughed, it lit up the room. Her laugh was warm, real, and contagious — the kind that made you feel like everything was going to be okay.

She encouraged everyone around her — not always with big speeches, but with small moments that mattered. A quiet “you got this,” a reassuring glance, a steady presence. She believed in people, especially her daughters, and showed it through every act of love and support. Cheryl lifted others up just by being herself.

She showed up for her girls and for our hula ʻohana with so much grace. She was steady. Present. Always giving from the heart. For over 10 years, Cheryl blessed our halau with her heart, her faithfulness, and her aloha. She was the perfect example of a hula mom — never seeking attention, but always showing up with love and humility. She truly was a living part of our Lōkahi lei — a connection we’ll always hold close.

In hula we say, “he lei poina ʻole ke aloha” — love is a lei never forgotten. Cheryl’s love, her laughter, her quiet encouragement — it stays with us. We’ll carry it in every practice, every performance, and every moment we choose to show up for each other the way she did.

We thank God for blessing our lives and our halau with Cheryl. His love was so clearly reflected in the way she loved and served. What a gift she was to all of us.

Cheryl, rest knowing we’ve got your family. We’ve got your girls. They are surrounded in aloha, just like you always surrounded others.

With deepest aloha and prayers, we send our love and condolences to the Guerrero and Ramirez ʻohana.

Cheryl was the best cousin-in-law you could ask for.
Always happy to see me and always made a point to make sure I felt like I was part of the family.  The world is worse off now that such a kind soul has left us.  Cheryl, I hope you knew that that never went unappreciated.  I will always miss you.  I look forward to seeing you again when my time is up.

There’s so much I wish I had said when I still had the chance. But more than anything, I want you to know how much you meant—to all of us, and how much you meant to me.

From the day we met in high school, your smile could light up any room. Your hugs were pure comfort—warm, safe, familiar. I keep replaying our free-period talks, laughter in the dugout, cotillion practices, and our pinky promise at prom. I’ll never forget 19-year-old us—how you did my hair and makeup for my wedding, or when you jumped in to help me with a last-minute hula performance. No hesitation, no expectations—just your generous heart.

We grew up together. Every moment with you felt like home. And as life moved on, you stayed the same beautiful soul—creative, loyal, and full of love. You had this rare gift of making people feel seen, connected, and cared for.

Watching you become a wife and mother was so special. It felt like everything in the world was right. I’ll make sure your children know how proud you were of them—how deeply, fiercely, and endlessly you loved them.

I miss you, Cheryl. More than words could ever express. There’s a quiet ache that doesn’t go away. But I carry you with me. You were truly a gift—one I’ll never stop being grateful for. And though you’re no longer here in the way I wish, your spirit is. Still surrounding us. Still connecting us. Still bringing us together.

To my dearest Cheryl,
Thank you for the light you brought to this world and to my life personally. You were a sister in every sense of the word. Uplifting, protective, and nurturing to the very end. Your energy was through-the-roof, but somehow you had space for quiet time with me all these years. From eating lunch in front of our lockers, to performing at those random spots, to hanging out at your kitchen table. I am grateful that my path brought me to yours. Until we meet again, I will forever miss you.
