She was born on February 15, 1938, in Irosin, Sorsogon, in the Bicol Region of the Philippines, to Gloria Garados and Pedro Galan. She was the eldest of two daughters.
Following World War II, she relocated to Manila, where she later married Uldarico Mendoza Almirol on May 30, 1954. Together they had six children: Romualdo, Rhodora, Reuben, Roxanne, Rowelind, and Rossana.
In 1962, she immigrated to the United States with her family after her husband joined the United States Navy. The family later became naturalized United States citizens in 1968. They eventually settled permanently in the Bay Area, California.
She was a proud member of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church of Christ) and was among the founding members of the Locale of San Jose, established in 1977.
Corazon is survived by her sister; her six children; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and extended family members.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm being held at Lima Family Erickson Memorial Chapel on Thursday, February 19th. A remembrance service will begin at 6:00 pm that same evening.
