Damiana Arevalo Bercilla

Damiana Bercilla was born in Bicol Province in the Philippines on September 27, 1930. In 1965, she married Sofronio Bercilla. Together, they had nine children, two boys and seven girls. Damiana managed the active household while Sofronio worked as a plant biologist for the Bureau of Plant Industry in the Philippines. In 1978, Damiana and Sofronio emigrated to the US putting down roots in San Jose, California. Over the next 25 years, eight of her nine children emigrated to the US. Damiana & Sofronio we’re married for 67 years until Sofronio passed away on November 24, 2021. Together, they had 17 grandchildren & 12 great grandchildren. Damiana was a devout Catholic and a regular at Most Holy Trinity Church in San Jose. She will be missed.

A visitation for Damiana will be held Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM at Oak Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 300 Curtner Ave, San Jose, CA 95125. A funeral service will occur Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM, 300 Curtner Ave, San Jose, CA 95125. A committal service will occur Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM, 300 Curtner Ave, San Jose, CA 95125.
