Dan Nishimoto, 86 years old, of Watsonville, passed away on June 13, 2021. Dan was born on October 1, 1934 in Stockton, California to Yoshio and Yae Nishimoto. He grew up in Stockton until Executive Order 9066 forced the family to live in a relocation camp in Topaz, Utah. After the war, the family returned from their internment to Stockton. Dan became a typesetter and worked at several newspapers, before settling down, working at the Register Pajaronian in Watsonville. He enjoyed watching the SF Giants baseball games, and was actively involved with the Cabrillo College Stroke and Disability Learning Center for many years.
Dan is survived by his son Walter (Janice), his sister Joan Nakayama, brothers Edgar, Lloyd, Victor, grandchildren Steven (Rachel) and Sarah, many nieces and nephews, plus many more family members and friends.
Dan was preceded in death by his father Yoshio, mother Yae, and brother Cyrus.
In honor of his wishes, no services will be held. Memorial donations may be made to the Santa Clara Valley Japanese Christian Church of Campbell or to Shared Adventures of Santa Cruz.
