He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Wilma Freedman of Pittsburgh, daughters Lori Freedman of Doylestown, PA; and Lisa Freedman Shaffer (Glen Shaffer) of San Jose, CA, his three grandchildren Nathan Lalli, Sophie Lalli, and Maya Shaffer. David was known as PapaDave by family, friends and colleagues. He was known for his kindness, perseverance, great cooking for family gatherings and his quiet sense of humor. Throughout his life he was an avid Steeler’s fan. It was a common occurrence for strangers to strike up a conversation with him because he always wore his Steeler’s cap. David and his family are indebted to the care and research at UCSF Memory and Aging Center and Neuroscape at UCSF, for surviving a rare degenerative disease six years beyond what was expected, and his home health care providers who enhanced his quality of life as his disease progressed.
Shiva will be at the home of Wilma and David Freedman at 5:00. A Zoom link will also be provided.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Neuroscape at UCSF.
