Diana Rose Ugaban Lopez was born in The Philippines on Sept 28, 1985 to her parents, Noah and Cely Lopez. She came to the United States in 1990 at age 4 with her parents and big sister, Rowena. There were only two of them and she was the youngest sibling. She loves to hang out with her close friends Kim, Chau, Erin and Melissa. They watch the Sharks Game most of the time. She also loves to record all her favorite TV shows and most sharks games.
She graduated from San Jose State University with a major in Microbiology in 2008. Her favorite sport of all time was hockey and she was a huge San Jose Sharks fan. Her favorite player was Dan Boyle. She was able to meet many of the players and take pictures with them. Diana was able to get all of the Sharks’ players signatures but, the only one that she was not able to meet was Sharkie, the team Mascot. In addition to hockey, she loved watching TV shows, especially Bones and Top Chef. Her favorite novels were Harry Potter and Twilight.
She was the sweetest and most kindhearted person you'll ever know. Diana was loved by so many family and friends. She was very family oriented and always attended any occasion or gathering that she was invited to. She loved taking care of her nephew, Jayden. They would play whatever games he wanted to, watch TV, and just hang out.
This past year, Diana, has been through a lot. In March, she was involved in a car accident. She first started to complain of back pain, which was initially diagnosed as a UTI. In July, the terrible news came that she had colon cancer and the CT scan would reveal that it had already progressed to stage 4 with metastasis to the liver. She had surgery, in hopes to take out the mass, but developed post operative complications. Despite all the setbacks, she was a fighter. She wanted to live. She was willing to do whatever was possible to spend more time with her family. Her parents and sister were always with Diana throughout all the hospital stays. But unfortunately, she lost her battle on October 10, 2013. She passed away with her big sister, Rowena, by her side. God needed her more in heaven and she is finally at peace.
Diana is survived by her parents, Noah and Cely Lopez, her big sister, Rowena Javate, Grandmother Consuelo Ugaban in the Philippines, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
