Don was born in Warwick, Rhode Island on February 15, 1936, to Raymond and Ruth. He is one of seven children. Don joined the Army and served his country proudly. He was stationed in Germany and enjoyed talking about his days in Germany one of his favorite stories was when he went to watch a road car race and how close the cars came to them. After the Army Don moved to California where he met his wife and best friend Carol at a party in 1959. It soon became apparent that they were a match made in heaven, and married on July 9, 1960 in Long Beach CA. Don and Carol had many wonderful and crazy years together. Don quickly became a second dad to Jim and soon after in April of 1963 Donny was born. In 1967 the family moved to San Jose CA. for a job in construction, Don worked framing houses in San Jose for many years. Then in March of 1972 Sevon was born, and now the family was complete.
Don’s true passion was cars, especially fast ones. His pride and joy was his car, 1966 yellow Dodge Charger, he would challenge anyone to race, and win. He was an avid race fan and loved Nascar. He did not have a specific driver that he cheered on but was loyal to Ford and anyone driving a Ford. You could always find him on Sundays relaxing in his favorite chair watching a race. All three of his kids learned at any early age two things, one… Don’t touch the remote on Sundays, and two… keep it quiet when the race is on. He was also a connoisseur of many food groups, like ice cream, cake, corn dogs, mint candies, chocolate with nuts and fish and chips, if you wanted to get on his good side bring him some thing sweet to eat.
Don was an extremely loving and tenderhearted, papa, and had a soft spot for all eleven of his grand kids, Nachelle, Jimmy, Katrina, Travis, Ashley, Keanu, Krystian, Kameron, Emily, Brittney, Olivia, and his two great grandchildren, Aaron & Madax. He enjoyed when they came to visit and always brought a smile to his face.
You will forever live on in all our hearts, and we miss you always dad, but as you always said
