Frances Sagisi Agngarayngay Ramolete was born on January 29, 1937 in Sangil, Bacarra, Philippines to Flora Sagisi and Catalino Agngarayngay. She was the second child and the oldest daughter of thirteen children. As a child, she was cared for by her grandparents, Pia and Jose Sagisi along with the help of her aunt and uncle, Josephina and Juan Sagisi.
Frances’ early education was completed at Ganagan Elementary School where she received Salutatorian Honors. She continued on to high school at Bacarra Provincial High School. Post-High School, Frances worked at her family’s store in Bacarra, owned by her Uncle Jose Cua and Auntie Dolores Sagisi Cua. Her aunt, Sofia Eugenio, introduced her to a friend named Juan “Johny” Ramolete who was a resident of Hawaii. Johny and Frances’ pen-pal relationship began which later blossomed into marriage. Johny went back home to the Philippines to wed his bride in 1961 and shortly after their wedding, Johny brought Frances to her new home in Hawaii.
Frances and Johny settled in Oahu and had their first daughter, Harlyne Jean on April 16, 1962. Six years later, their daughter, Christine Jeanette was born on April 10, 1968. As they started their family, they petitioned for Frances’ family to come to America. Her father, Catalino arrived to the states in 1968, their mother, Flora in 1969, and her siblings followed thereafter.
While in Hawaii, Frances worked in the hospitality industry for ten years. Frances’ husband passed away on April 23, 1980 and one year later, she decided to move to California where her siblings resided. Frances settled with her daughters in Santa Clara, California. She worked as an Electronic Assembler at Pantronix for twenty years and retired in 2002.
In 2004, Frances decided to move in with her sisters, Georgina and Prudence in San Jose, California. On May 11, 2020, her eldest daughter, Harlyne, went home to be with the Lord after a long fight with Leukemia.
Frances found joy and livelihood being in the company of her family. Traveling with her loved ones was fulfilling to her. She was a faithful servant to the Lord and attended church every Sunday. Frances was an easy going, calm and patient woman. She showed her love to her family and friends through her generosity and compassion for them and others. She is survived by her youngest daughter, Christine Jeanette Ramolete.
