Hattie N Bui

Hattie Bui (Maria Nguyen Thi Nhat), age 90, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2021 in San Jose, California. She was born in Ha Noi, Vietnam, the second daughter of Lawrence Nguyen Van Su and Maria Nguyen Thi Khan.

Hattie was completely devoted to her family. With amazing determination and financial acuity, she pioneered her skills to provide for her family at a time that was nearly impossible for her generation. She loved to travel and did not hesitate to explore new venues. She was well loved and respected by friends and family.

She is survived by her husband for 68 years, Joseph Bui Xuan Lan and five children, Ryan Bui Xuan Truong (Catharine), Christina Bui Preisig (Richard), Mai Nacht (Thomas), Mary Bui-Pham (Hung) and Tho Bui (Daira).

She is also survived by her beloved brother Joseph Nguyen Van Chi (Le Anh Tuyet) and her sister Maria Nguyen Thi Lai (Nguyen Ba Hien) and is sister of the late Maria Nguyen Thi Tan (Trinh Van Ngoc) and the late Joseph Nguyen Van Su (Terry Nguyen Thi Tha).

She leaves a generation of grandchildren that will absolutely miss her, Gabrielle Bui, Alexander Preisig (Nicole), Jennifer Nacht, Carrie Nacht, Roanna Pham and Emma Pham. She also loves being a great-grandmother to Everly Preisig and Luke Preisig.

Arrangements for her funeral will take place on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 with a viewing at Oak Hill Funeral Home, followed by a Requiem Mass at St. Maria Goretti Church.
