Helen Gamino passed away peacefully on the evening of January 12, 2022, at the age of 100 years old. Helen was a proud native Californian, born in Riverside, although she spent most of her life in San Jose.
Helen was a long-time employee of Del Monte Corp, at the Auzerais Avenue facility in San Jose, California. She was married to Max Gamino in 1940, until his passing in 1997. A beloved mom to Clara Nava and spouse Juan, Pete and spouse Henrietta, Dan and spouse Olivia, Dave Gamino and spouse Terry, Henry (deceased) and Richard (deceased). She leaves 11 grandchildren, including: Teri Franz, John Nava, Maxine Rohrer, Rich Gamino, Henry Gamino, Stephanie Chavez, Denise Gamino, Lucinda Davies Gamino, Lena Madrid, Donna Gamino and Don Gamino, plus numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Helen was an avid gardener and spent most of her days in her backyard with her towering cacti, blossoming flowers, prolific fruit trees and bountiful vegetable gardens. She kept local birds well fed, with special attention to the hummingbirds. She also made sure her neighbors and those in need were taken care of by leaving bags of fruits and vegetables hanging from her front yard fence for anyone who would like them. She was an avid reader and enjoyed working on her home, but most of all she loved spending time with family and friends, who would visit her regularly.
Helen will be greatly missed by her family and friends who will dearly remember her hospitality, loving hugs, contagious smile and the kindness she showed to everyone who crossed her path.
