Hưng is a good friend of mine throughout the years.  First met him via a mutual friend Devon.  Super nice, smart, college-graduate and mellow guy.  We hung out, went to dance classes and have many fun moment together.  He also supported me while we were single and hanging out.  Such a loss to not have him around.  Rest in peace my friend.  We miss you Hưng.

I got to know Hưng because there were not many of us who chose economics as a major at UCLA. We were having nothing in common. I am much older so he chose me to be his gossip dumpling at school. He didn’t talk much but don’t underestimate him. He was a man of few words but he could be charming and talkative when there were pretty girls around. At first I was only his seamstress because he needed me to shorten his jeans but then he was my mover and my DJ for my wedding. When I was a poor student he took me to Beverly Hills for ice cream and brought me candies for no reason. He criticized me when I chose clothing with busy flower patterns. He said I looked like “bà già “. Believe it or not, I’ve carried that with me for over 40 years now. I still  worry whether my clothes have too much flower patterns. But what I remember the most from being around him was the action on the dance floor. He turned me to a swan as soon as the music started and we seemed to be just flying with the music. Rest in peace my dearest friend. There will never be another one like you. Ngoc Schimmelmann
