Jaime Velasco Cabullo, fondly known as Papa, Manong Jaime and Lakay, peacefully passed into eternal rest on June 9, 2025, at 6:21 PM, at Sta. Theresa Kaiser Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Sta. Maria, Pangasinan, Philippines, Jaime was the eldest of four children of Betty and Alfonso Cabullo. Raised in a close-knit family, Jaime carried the values of love, strength, and unity throughout his life.
He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 40 years, Laila, and their children Jermaine, Jonathan, and Jasmine. Jaime is also survived by his sisters Elizabeth (Joel) and Jacqueline (Wilbur), as well as his cherished nephews Jaymar, Jerald, Ethan, and nieces Jilian and Adeline. His brother Bobby welcomed him into the gates of Heaven, along with their beloved father, Alfonso
Jaime’s life was a testament to quiet strength, unwavering love, and enduring family bonds. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Jaime was a devoted provider and an incredibly hardworking man. He spent many years working in the semiconductor industry and at Orchard Supply Hardware's plumbing department, where he became an expert in every part he handled—always serving customers with efficiency and dedication. He also worked at the San Jose Mineta International Airport, where he built lasting friendships and had the opportunity to meet and assist many well-known personalities.
While building a life in America, Jaime never forgot his roots. He actively helped create and support job opportunities for anyone in need in his hometown in the Philippines, always extending a helping hand whenever he could. His generosity knew no borders—he gave with sincerity and joy.
For many years, Jaime and Laila poured their hearts into building their dream retreat, a vacation home and resort they lovingly named Jai Ba Lai. Created as a place where families could come together and make lasting memories, Jai Ba Lai quickly became a symbol of Jaime’s deep love for family and togetherness. Nothing brought him more joy than hearing stories of families enjoying their time there. One of Jaime’s favorite pastimes was connecting with loved ones back in the Philippines—sharing his visions and ideas with them, and seeing those dreams come to life through their collaboration and support.
Jaime had a deep love for cooking and a natural appreciation for good food. He loved going out with his family to explore new culinary spots and cherished family gatherings and camping trips, where he would often cook everyone's favorite dishes. He had a gift for bringing joy to any occasion—turning even serious moments into laughter-filled memories.
Jaime, his beloved wife Laila, and their three children—Jermaine, Jonathan, and Jasmine—are faithful members of North Valley Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Jack Trieber and the Lifeline Bible Class taught by Pastor Alvin Martinez.
Jaime’s life was a living testimony of God’s mercy and divine orchestration. By God’s grace, Laila attended dialysis school years before Jaime needed treatment—preparing her to lovingly provide nine years of hemodialysis care from home. In time, Jaime received a kidney transplant that sustained him for five more years. Then, another turn of grace: Laila’s workplace injury allowed her to stay home full-time, gifting them sacred years to be together—making up for time lost to busy work lives. Two years later, Jaime would return home—not just to their earthly home—but to his eternal one, with the Lord.
The trials he faced transformed him. Once a man rooted in the world, Jaime became a man rooted in God. His story is not only one of endurance but of redemption, grace, and the miracle of a heart changed by Christ.
To God be the glory for Jaime’s life—a journey marked by love, faith, and the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ.
