John Simoes

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father, John Simoes. He took his last breath at his home in San Jose, CA on July 29, 2025, at the age of 80. John was born on September 5, 1944, in Sao Bento Terceira, Azores.

John is preceded in death by his parents Francisco and Maria Simoes and his identical twin brother Manuel. He is survived by his sister Maria Vieria and his loving wife of 52 years, Maria Simoes. Together they had six children, David; son (wife Elizabeth), Emanuel; son (wife Tiffany), Monica; daughter (husband Victor), Cecilia; daughter, John Paul; son and Marta; daughter (husband John). He was deeply loved by his 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Throughout his life, he was known for his involvement in the Portuguese community and was a devoted member of St. Clare Parish and Five Wounds Church. John found great joy in directing the church choir, for over 35 years.

Services for John:

Rosary will be held Thursday, August 7, 2025, 7:00 pm at Five Wounds Church (1375 E Santa Clara Street, San Jose, CA 95116)

Mass will be held Friday, August 8, 2025, 12:30 pm at St. Clare Parish (725 Washington Street, Santa Clara, CA 95050)

Burial to follow, 2:00 pm at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery (490 Lincoln Street, Santa Clara, CA 95050)
