

Julia Mae Elbert, beloved mother to seven children, was born April 12, 1936, to George and Julia Major in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was one of twelve children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Felton Charles Elbert, son Michael Carter, Brothers: Wilmer Major, James Major, Herbert Major, Willie Major, and Alton Major, and Sisters: Leotha Powell, Lucille Major, Alice Green, Mildred Carney, and Vera Major.
Julia began her education in the Baton Rouge school system and was a proud graduate of Capital Senior High School. After graduation, she attended Southern University before moving to Red Bluff, California with her husband and later to San Jose, California where she remained for 50 years.
Her first marriage to Walter Carter ended in divorce and three children were born to this union: Michael Anthony, Nasha, and Vasari Davinci.
Julia reconnected with her childhood friend and neighbor Felton Charles Elbert and were married. They welcomed four daughters: Kathleen Denise, Roslyn Renee, Julia Mae, and Elise Denean.
While living in Red Bluff, Julia was visited by Jehovah’s Witnesses and immediately started to study the Bible. In 1974, she dedicated her life to Jehovah and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She loved Jehovah, her family, and her congregation with her whole heart. She was committed to sharing in the preaching work announcing the good news of God’s Kingdom at every opportunity. She enjoyed 51 years of faithful service to Jehovah. Julia was comforted by her faith in the resurrection and knew that it would not be long before Jehovah fulfilled his promise.
Psalms 37: 10-11 Just a little while longer and the wicked will be no more. You will look at where they were, and they will not be there. But the meek will possess the earth, and they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace
Julia was an amazing woman filled with wisdom, a beautiful smile, and a comforting spirit. She will be forever in our hearts and deeply missed. She leaves to cherish her memory: One sister Marjorie Leonard, and brother-in-law, Willie Paul. Children: Nasha Carter, daughter; Vasari Carter, son; Kathleen Whosendorfe, daughter, Juan Whosendorfe, son-in-law; Roslyn Upson, daughter; Julia Earl, daughter, Marlin Earl, son-in-law; and Elise Elbert, daughter.
Grandchildren: Michael Carter Jr., Dajohn Ross, Kathleen Ross, Chanell Carter, D’Chaze Upson, Mercedes Martinez, Shevaleau Upson, Jazmine Carter, Ariel Upson, Vasari Carter II, Jajuan Earl, Alexis Carter, Taylor Earl and Chinna Burns.
She also leaves 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and many, many, friends.
