She was born in Quail Texas, and grew up in the Central Valley of California in many small towns such as Cressey, Delano and McFarland. She raised her family in San Jose, California, and she attended Hope Tabernacle, Calvary Community Church, and Los Gatos Christian Church. She moved to Tigard, Oregon in 2005.
LaWanda’s husband, James Austin Hallam, preceded her in death in 1994. She is survived by her daughter, Lori Ferriter (Shawn) and sons, Doug Hallam (Cindy) and Brad Hallam (Frank); grandchildren Alicia Moore, Erica Moore, Taylore Decker (Calvin), Austin Hallam (Tianna), Jack Hallam, Grady Bassett and Annelle Bassett.
A celebration of life service will be held on May 9, 2025 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home.
